PROFESSIONAL BIKE FITTING

Unlike many bike fitters, our entire bike fitting process focuses on you and your cycling needs. We know that each cyclist is unique and deserves a fit that addresses their unique cycling backgrounds, issues, and goals. Our proven record of success in meeting and often exceeding the needs of our bike-fit clients over the past 30 years reflects our ability to engage and actively listen to each client as we move through each step of our fit process.


We begin our bike-fit process by asking you questions that allow us to understand your cycling goals, your riding background, and any specific problems you are currently having as a cyclist. As part of this initial assessment, we evaluate your general flexibility and mobility. We then begin our bike-fit process. Throughout the fit process we will encourage you to give us feedback on how the adjustments are affecting your cycling experience. 


During the fit, we will first examine and adjust your shoes, cleats, and pedals. Next, we will evaluate your saddle and adjust its height and set-back with the goal of ensuring that your ankle, knee, and hip positions remain within biomechanical safe zones throughout your pedal stroke that will not lead to joint damage. Finally, we examine and make any adjustments to the cockpit of your bike to address any problems you might have that involve your upper body when riding. For example, these adjustments might include changes to stem length, positioning of hoods or aero bars (tri bike).


At the end of your fit you will receive a full report of all of the adjustments we made to your bike, including bike measurements that you will be able to use to reset your bike. In addition, if we determine that you would benefit from a change in a specific bike component, we will provide information about how to obtain that component and will re-examine your fit once you have it installed. 


We realize that many cyclists, whether riding outdoors or indoors (including stationary bikes), find it difficult to schedule a bike fit that involves travel to a fit studio. To address this problem, Bike Fitness Coaching has successfully developed a Zoom-based virtual bike fit process that accurately mirrors our in-studio bike fit process. We are thrilled that we have been able to provide cyclists located around the world with a world-class bike fit.

The Bike Fitness Coaching 3-Day Bike Fit Class is one of the most thoughtfully structured and practically practical Bike Fitting educational experiences I have attended, particularly for fitters who want to integrate Virtual Bike Fitting into their practice without compromising clinical rigor. The standout feature of this course is the prework. Before the live sessions, participants are required to read and respond to questions covering the entire course curriculum, which is provided online in advance. This approach ensures that classroom time is not spent passively reviewing concepts but is instead spent actively applying them. For experienced bike fitters, this structure accelerates learning and sharpens clinical reasoning about how Bike Fitting can reduce knee pain, hip pain, lower back pain, and foot pain. A second major strength of the program is the extensive use of Virtual Bike Fitting via Zoom. From a practical standpoint, the course reinforces how disciplined Bike Fitting fundamentals translate directly to outcomes riders care about: solved numb feet, solved numb hands, reduced foot pain, and improved comfort over long rides. The virtual format also demonstrates how effective Virtual Bike Fitting can be when communication, observation, and rider education are done correctly. For bike fitters looking to expand their service model, this course provides a credible framework for delivering Virtual Bike Fitting while still achieving results traditionally associated with in-person sessions. The emphasis remains firmly on sound Bike Fitting principles rather than technology for technology’s sake. Highly recommended for any fitter serious about advancing their Bike Fitting practice.

BEST BIKE FIT I EVER HAD!

I had a fantastic bike fit experience with Rick. He quickly identified the issues with my previous bike fit, fixed them, and explained why he was making certain changes and the importance of them. He is calm, patient, and has a wealth of information; he is truly an expert bike fitter and a very experienced rider himself. After our fit, I went for my usual 25-mile Saturday bike ride and shaved a whole 10 minutes off my time! I knew exactly why I was riding faster since he had explained the changes he made and why they would help -- plus my bike felt way better to ride too! This was worth every penny, and I highly recommend it, no matter what your background or experience with biking is.
