Are you a sports medicine professional who needs to know more about bike fitting to properly assist your clients? Are you a bicycle industry or bike fit professional that wants to learn more about bike fitting? Are you a coach who wants to really help your clients? If so, we can help you with our fully accredited, three day bikefit classes & hands-on course that is designed just for people in your field.
We approach bike fitting from a biomechanics perspective. Rick, our master fitter, has an extensive engineering and project management background and is certified by the International Bike Fitting Institute (IBFI) as a level 4 fitter. Amy is a licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy and previously a women’s elite USAC category 2 crit racer. Together, they help clients achieve pain-free comfort while maximizing enjoyment.
As well as being an elite female cyclist, Amy, our senior bike fitter has an undergraduate degree in kinesiology & biomechanics from San Diego State and is a specialist in physiology and anatomy. More importantly, she is a licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT - University California San Francisco UCSF) and holds a certificate as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), and currently works at Red Bull sports.
Rick is also a certified USA Cycling coach with Hunter Allen’s Peaks Coaching Group and has certifications in power-based training, LEOMO real-time motion analysis, is a USAC Certified Skills Instructor teaching the Beginner Racer Program (BRP). Rick's bike fitting beliefs are to (a) place the body into its natural 'relaxed' state on the bicycle where the cyclist has the most stability and thereby the strongest, and (b) determine correct crank arm length to mitigate knee/hip damage & pain.
BOTTOM LINE - Unlike other bike fitting courses which only teach "HOW TO RUN THE MACHINE," we teach the basics, the how's, the how-to's and the why's. Think of this course as "BIKE FITTING UNPLUGGED!"
When you have completed the course, you will know what to change, why change it and what a change to the bike will cause.
If you want to then automate, you will actually know what the machines recommendations will do and/or if your client can actually absorb this change.
In order to provide the best in bike fitting course-ware and application, we continually research the latest in industry standards, processes and procedures determined by physical therapists, physiologists, biomechanists and kinesiologists.
Knowing how the body moves and how it is supposed to move sets us apart from other bike fitters and other educational instruction. We leverage this understanding to tailor the bike fit to you, the individual – no two bike fits are the same since no two bodies are the same.
Our curriculum is constantly updated and always contains the latest processes based on the latest scientific research and input from the fields leading experts. Topics covered include,
My name is James Schaefer and I am a Peaks Coaching group coach. I want to shoot out a big plug for this class especially since Rick is doing it remotely. At first I was apprehensive doing a bike fitting class online but my experience was outstanding. For me, we were able to get together after my workday for 4 weekday evenings in a row. Between classes I went out an purchased a few of the tools Rick recommended. I was then able to set up a ‘fitting station’ and work through the process Rick had taught me. In order to become a confident bike fitter, Rick took the time to discuss not only my bike position but the processes and procedures I need to concentrate on . I highly recommend this class, ESPECIALLY FOR COACHES! [Note: Rick said this webinar-style course will only be around until everything gets back to normal.]
USAC = 15 CEU's for Coaches
IBFI = 80 units for 3 day course
