We approach bike fitting from a biomechanics perspective. Rick, our master fitter, has an extensive engineering and project management background and is certified by the International Bike Fitting Institute (IBFI) as a level 4 fitter. Rick has also authored much of the IBFI courseware. Rick has thousands of successful bike fits 'under his belt' and specializes in knee pain mitigation. Rick enjoys teaching these bike-fitting classes since there is always an opportunity to learn something new and to help out the students who attend.
Rick is also a certified cycling coach with Hunter Allen’s Peaks Coaching Group and has certifications in power-based training, LEOMO real-time motion analysis, is a USAC Certified Skills Instructor teaching the Beginner Racer Program (BRP). Rick's bike fitting beliefs are to (a) place the body into its natural 'relaxed' state on the bicycle where the cyclist has the most stability and thereby the strongest, and (b) determine correct component lengths to mitigate pain and joint damage.
BOTTOM LINE - Unlike other bike fitting courses which only teach "HOW TO RUN THE MACHINE," we teach the basics, the How's and the How-To's and the Why's.
When you have completed the course, you will know what to change, why to change it, and what a change to the bike will cause.
Then, if you want to automate, you will know what the machine's recommendations will do and if your client can absorb this change.
To provide the best in bike fitting courseware and application, we continually research the latest industry standards, processes, and procedures determined by physical therapists, physiologists, biomechanics, and kinesiologists.
Knowing how the body moves and how it is supposed to move sets us apart from other bike fitters and other educational instructors. We leverage this understanding to tailor the bike fit to you, the individual – no two bike fits are the same since no two bodies are the same.
Our curriculum is constantly updated and always contains the latest processes based on the latest scientific research and input from leading experts. Topics covered include,

We were in search of a more formal bike fitting service to our shop. After researching several bike fitting programs, we decided to sign up with Bike Fitness Coaching. World of Bikes sent two members to Rick’s three-day, certification course.
This intensive course was extremely beneficial to World of Bikes. It allowed us to refine our bike fit skills and utilize our new found knowledge to help our clients. I can't speak highly enough about Rick’s experience and professionalism. The balance of physiology and the mechanics of bike fitting were relatable to the different professional backgrounds of the students. He managed to condense this complex course material into a format that was interactive and engaging.
I feel confident in recommending Rick’s courses to anyone interested in pursuing a greater depth of understanding of the dynamics of bike fitting.

Rick's course was very informative. I wasn't sure how a virtual bike fit course was going to work but I walked away at the end of the weekend feeling confident on how to fit someone to a bike. Rick's course was really great and I would recommend it to anyone.

I am an avid cyclist. I've been sized and fit for new bikes on several occasions. With each fitting, I was disappointed with the lack of standardization in the process and the lack of science and automation applied to the fitting itself. I decided to research bicycle fitting from the perspective of
(cont.) injury prevention using the technology available in the 24th year of the 21st century. began researching bike fitting processes and technologies used by Specialized, Guru, Giant, and other brands, and I discovered Rick Schultz and Sue Rowland at Bike Fitness Coaching. After several telephone discussions and electronic exchanges, I decided to take their 3-day course on bike fitting processes, and the scientific application of AI to bike fitting with an emphasis on the standardization of process as well as the introduction of technology to conduct a comprehensive and complete bike fitting experience for customers while promoting safe and pain-free cycling for all ages. Rick is a master fitter. His methodology can be applied to all ages and his course is both intensive, interactive, and thought-provoking. After completing their class, I have conducted 5 bike fittings where my clients complained of knee, ankle, calf, and back pain. Using the standardized systematic methodology provided, and the application of proprietary software, I have been able to diagnose each rider’s issue and the associated bike correction necessary. Using the knowledge and process provided by Rick and Sue and Bike Fitness Coaching, I have decided to open a mobile customized bike fitting business. Thank you Rick for identifying the industry need for a standardized bike fitting process and creating this comprehensive class to address the issue professionally and personally.
